Six: The Musical

The Audition Process

My experience with Six has been a complete whirlwind. I first auditioned to be an alternate on the first UK national tour. I was initially asked to prepare sides and songs for Boleyn, Seymour and Howard. When I showed up at Dance Works, there were only 12 of us, and after a short dance break, half of us were cut.

The second part of the day consisted of a workshop-type audition, where we performed each song to each other, received notes, and then did it again. At the end of the 7-hour long day, they dismissed all but two of us. They asked me to go outside to learn the sides and songs for Parr.

I left that day thinking I had smashed the audition and booked the job.

I didn’t.

But I did get asked back to audition for the West End replacement for Howard.

I didn’t book that either.

Bliss 2.0

However, Pearson Casting offered me an alternate role in Six on Norwegian Cruise Lines during the same phone call. Before I could accept, they changed the offer to Catherine Parr in the NCL Bliss 2.0 cast. I gladly accepted and started rehearsals in Tampa a few months later. Learning the show in just three short weeks was incredibly stressful, but we made it to the ship and opened the show, only to close it the next day. The world was shutting down due to Covid-19.

Breakaway 5.0

I was so incredibly lucky to be given the chance to reprise this role. With a solid cast of women who became not just my colleagues but my sisters, we explored the Caribbean and the Mediterranean together.
